If you’ve ever had any sales training, you know the value of asking questions. Questions to determine desires. Questions to trial close. Questions to close the sale. But are you asking any questions with your Affiliate Marketing sites? No, really, I mean it. Are you just plastering an offer out there or are you asking questions?
Questions are powerful things. I’m big on asking questions (obviously) and using those questions to elicit responses from my audience. Polls, Surveys, etc. are all obvious ways to ask questions. But have you built a way for your site visitors to keep hearing from you? Have you asked the question “Join our Email List”?
One of my customers is a small restaurant chain. We added a simple form to the bottom of every page of their website. We asked them to join their club. That’s it. Nothing fancy. Just a question in the form of a call to action. Join our Club. That was it.
This was 6 weeks ago. We now have names, email addresses, birthday and anniversary information on over 5000 customers and prospects. And what did we do this that information? Every month we give them money. A free meal on their birthday or anniversary, a reminder to plan their holiday office party now, announce a special party for a big football game. We give away money and add some information.
How effective is this? “Covers” (people eating meals) are up 5% from the email list alone. Think about how many people eat a meal at any given restaurant in a day… Add 5%. Take that number times the average check. Yup, this is real money. Very real money. Add in the additional tips for the servers and barstaff along with a great dining experience for the customer and everyone is happy.
How can you do this for your affiliate websites? Can you ask the question “Would you like to be on our Email List” in such a way as to drive signups for your newsletter? Can you frame the question so your site visitors and customers will love it? And can you provide real value for the recipients of your newsletters?
Get your thinking caps on. Because you can turn regular customers into fanatics, new customers into evangelists, and prospects into customers by asking a simple question….
