How far we’ve come in 40 years. In 1969 a hunk of highly engineered metal departed Florida and went the full 238857 miles with computing power roughly equivalent to a handheld calculator. And at the same time (1969) ARPANET (the forerunner of the Internet) was established.
As we say goodbye to 2009 I walked outside and in the clear cold Missouri air I saw a Full Moon and thought back to when in 1969 we saw the Earth from the opposite perspective just as the beginning of the Internet was established.
How better to ring out 2009 than to show the iconic image from 1969 as we ring in 2010… The Earth as taken from Apollo 11. Happy New Year!
