And no, it’s not because of all the mobile networks (but it wouldn’t work without them). It’s not because of young “hip” teenagers buying stuff with their iPhones. It’s not the Internet Savvy marketers either. It’s because of my Mother. That’s right.. my Mother. And I can show you with a picture.

Yes, you’ve got it. That is my septuagenarian mother on a smartphone! Now think about this. We all know every high schooler’s got a phone and texts. The “hip” crowd are all showing off their iPhones. Android phones are everywhere (and outselling iPhones). And of course there’s the Blackberry.
But when my 77yr old Mother is using a smartphone. Well, “mainstream acceptance” doesn’t really describe it. “Ubiquitous Use” does. Which is to say that so many people are embracing the mobile web that if we do our jobs well we will do well.
